Use Fun And Scary Props For Halloween Decorating
Halloween is a fun time of year for children of all ages, including you. It is a fun time because we get to dress up to be something or someone that we are not the other 364 days of the year. We also get to run around, door to door, receiving goodies from people in our community. As you are running from neighbor to neighbor, from this side of the street to the other, you will notice many scary props that your neighbors use to decorate their homes. Some of these props might be horrific and some might look downright cheap. Either way, it's fun to see how festive the neighborhood really can be. Being a homeowner in the neighborhood it is your responsibility to make your house fit in. Decorating can be a very expensive thing and honestly not all people have the extra money to spend on crazy holiday decorations. In this article you will learn how to decorate your home for Halloween with scary props on a budget. Most often you can make your own decorations with items that you have in your home or items that your family might be willing to part with.
One cheap idea for decorating your doorsteps is to purchase a couple medium sized pumpkins. You can find carving kits with patterns to copy for making your pumpkin carving unique. Once you have your pumpkins carved you can set them on your front steps leading up to your front door. When the sun has set and darkness is upon you put tea lights, either real candles or battery operated candles, in the center of the pumpkin. This will create lights on your steps and be very festive. Using old milk cartons and creating a hanging skeleton is also an option to use for decorating for Halloween. You can hang these cute skeletons from your porch or even on trees in the front yard. If you have any old white bed sheets that you can part with, you can make adorable ghosts to cover your home. You just need to stuff the heads, draw eyes on, and tie a string around the neck to keep the head filled. You can also hang these with the milk carton skeletons. If you do not like to dress your house up to look scary, but you still want to give you home a touch of fall you can do a few different options. Ask a neighboring farmer for a bale of straw. Gather a pair of old jeans and a flannel shirt from your old clothes. Stuff the clothes with the straw and have your new scarecrow friend sit next to the remainder of the bale of straw. A few stalks of corn would also be a very festive, fall decoration to put next to the scarecrow. You can find mini gourds at many grocery stores to decorate your table and your entry way. If you have trees in your yard they will lose their leaves. You can rake the leaves up and put them in decorative bags in front of your home. This is killing two birds with one stone; cleaning while decorating. You can find fun and scary props. It all depends on what you like for your home. Just remember that you can decorate on a budget and it shows your holiday spirit when you do. |
